Mikhail Gorbachev, helped to the collapse of communism. While he did not notice it, he was contradicting, the communist policy when he became leader of the communism soviet party!

The Collapse of Communism

The Collapse of Communism was due to the death of the Russian president and other events such as. Taking down the Berlin wall. The Berlin wall was a wall separating Germany east and west. This was due to the Iron Curtain! After so they learned that communism was a good idea generally, but did not work! So it mainly collapsed, but some countries are still Communist! This destroyed the Soviet system, we stopped hating them afterwerds, now were friends, and no hatred; the way it should be!

Nelson Mandela and Apartheid

Apartheid is racial segregation from preventing south Africans from voting and shit, since 1948 - 1994. This was only for the nonwhites-classified as Bantu *(Black people) Indians and mixed colors besides the whites, removing their citizenship! This meant black people could not vote in parliamentary elections, and then in 1990 many public and institutions were restricted to the use of one race only. Nelson Mandela a hero because he Fought for Unity and freedom. Nelson Mandela walked out of prison on Feb. 11, 1990 to bring a violent upheavel to S.A. A normal man would have felt right for in calling for a violent upheaval to bring down the white supremacist government. But he felt a good reason to call for a revenge shot. He had spent 27 years in prison, 18 of them on Robben Island, an inhospitable chunk of rock sitting in the cold Atlantic, off the coast of Cape Town.

African Independance.

Africa has changed so much in the past 40 years. Many countries in Africa were recently founded. this was do to African Independence. Some of the influence of the Independence came from a British imperialist named Cecil Rhodes. Rhodes was British and conquered Africa. And named some of the States after him like Rhodesia, and even a dog named after him! But after the influence of Independence the Africans renamed the state of Rhodesia to Zimbabwe. This took place in 1970, African Independence took place way before this in 1955. There were a few leaders in Africa to gain their Independence. Kwame Nkrumah the first prime minister, and later the President for life. He planned economic projects, and build new roads and schools! Expanded health facilities for people, all this to spread African Independence, by setting an influence!

Film Lesson: "The Right Stuff"

In the film "The right stuff" USSR and US were in a Space race! The space race was to see who can get a man in space first. At first the US was winning because We were the first to break wind,(sound barrier) with Mach 1. The reason why we entered this race was because the Russians had the first satellite to orbit the earth. So we got upset And decided to send someone up into space, like a test pilot, but publicist thought it would be bad to send a test pilot because they would have to ensure their safety and return! So in 1961 after many test runs of launching the space ship, and various tests for the pilots, We decided to send A MONKEY!!!!! So two weeks later after our sucsessful launch Russia sent a man in space named Yuri Gugarin (Russian)! So we had a bad start but later on we won!

NATO and The Warsaw Pact.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty organization) And the Warsaw pact's were formed in retaliation, and to maintain Capitalism and to prevent communism! To retaliate against communist Russia, because we(NATO) thought of Communism as illogical. Warsaw was a retaliation to America's and Poland And whoever's in NATO. Warsaw is like a Soviet Union version of NATO, to spread communism unlike the U.S NATO! The united states president at the time Truman, decided to form this pact after the arms race! "Schindler's List" Film lesson.

"Schindler's list" the film correctly illustrates the Holocaust. Reason being so; is because in the movie it didn't only show what had happened in the camps but also where the workers worked. I would say that the scene when all the little children ran and hid for their lives, when rounding up the Jewish. And this one kid was looking for a spot to hid in but, it was used by other kid's and their was so much room available to hide in but they said theirs no room, and left him to die! After seeing that i wondered are all Jewish people claustrophobic. JK! Because this Type of thing happens like 20 times through out the movie! "Schindler's list" the film left a stronger influence then Night and Fog the documentary in my opinion!

"Night and Fog" film lesson.

Some of my reactions to the documentary "Night and fog", is scared, worried, and shocked! Scared because i can't even begin to imagine some group of trained people(Nazis) taking over your town or even country! Worried because after all of the killing, the Jews that were still alive had to search for their family in many cases they wouldn't find any! Shocked because of the high number of innocent people slaughtered, Even the workers, because they were found usless!!!
This compared to Schindler's list, I'd say that Schindler's list displays the halocaust more accurately because the documentary was real film yes but it only focused on the camps! Schindler's list was better quality and showed most of the Halocaust, camps!!

The Treaty Of Versailles, and the affect on the German.

Basically the Treaty of Versailles was a pact or an agreement between most of Europe( in this case the Allied Powers ), against Germany! The agreement stated that Germany had to pay the cost of damages, according to the pact( treaty )it was Germany's fault. This treaty took place on 28 June 1919, at the end of World War I. This was the official end of WWI! The Versailles treaty placed a lot of restrictions on Germany and put them in an unstable financial state( economically screwed ). They also could only have 100 000 soldiers, and other military restrictions. It also made them responsible for all damage in WW1 so in turn they had to repay all the damage. So after all of this they were really humiliated. Personally i do not agree with the treaty because i also think that this is what gave Adolph Hitler so much power, And i say so because Germany seek ed help, a type of savior so they got Hitler after he was rejected and denied. But when he became fuhrer he created jobs and rebuild Germany's social, and financial structure: all by ignoring the treaty completely!

Mustafa Kemal (aka: Ataturk) modernized Turkey

Mustafa mdernized turkey by Secularism. It means the separation of religion from educational, cultural and legal affairs. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a military hero at the Dardanelles in 1915. He was born in 1881 in Salonica( greece ). Mustafa made new legal system in Turkey that all citizens - men and women, rich and poor - equal before the law. It gave Turkey a society of justice and equal rights.

Film lesson "Gandhi"

Gandhi used certain acts to gain Indian Independence, like the "Salt march" which was when lots of Indians went to the beach to get and make their own salt. Reason being to show the British that they can be independent without using Britain's resources. And many other events like such. It did help that he was a lawyer! His philosophy was to do all of this without using any violence to achieve Indian independence. He starved himself(Fasting), he was arrested many times for his people, and he boycotted British clothing and made his own: well by doing so he got arrested!
